How FunderIQ works.
Everything about generating profiles, data sources, access, and workflow.
How does FunderIQ generate a prospect profile?
FunderIQ builds profiles live from public research. It starts with the company name, website, and any contact you provide, then gathers company intelligence, philanthropy/CSR signals, foundation and IRS 990 data, executive and board information, brand tier, and brand & strategic partnership signals. It maps the right contacts to each team and recommends a primary team plus secondary opportunities.
What can I research in FunderIQ?
You can research companies (for corporate and employer partnerships), individual major-gifts prospects, foundation grant opportunities, corporate partners whose CSR pillars match your mission, and even funders or partners supporting a peer organization. Bulk import via CSV or Excel is also supported.
What data sources are used?
Publicly available sources: company websites, CSR and corporate giving pages, foundation and IRS 990-PF filings, annual reports, leadership and board pages, hiring and employer signals, and brand-tier indicators. Contact discovery includes LinkedIn profile links and Hunter.io email finding with confidence scores.
How does the Grants Discovery workspace work?
FunderIQ uses your organization's auto-built profile to understand your mission, programs, and focus areas, then searches for foundation and corporate-foundation opportunities that align. Each opportunity is scored on fit, likelihood, and deadline urgency, and existing funders are excluded from results.
How does the Competitor Funders feature work?
Paste a peer nonprofit's website domain and FunderIQ will crawl their site and supporting pages to extract foundations, corporate partners, and major donors. You can also upload a competitor's annual report PDF and extract the same list of funders and partners.
How does team routing work?
Each profile names a primary team best positioned to lead the relationship, and flags every secondary team with a real opportunity. For example, a company routed to Employer Partnerships may also surface as a Grants target through its foundation, a Major Gifts prospect through its executives, and a Brand & Strategic Partnerships opportunity through its cause-marketing and sponsorship activity.
What are Brand & Strategic Partnership Signals?
A new opportunity category surfaced from the same prospect profile — separate from philanthropy — that identifies co-branded campaigns, sponsorships, cause-marketing, strategic alliances, and awareness-month collaborations. Opportunities are scored and routed as secondary opportunities to Corporate Partnerships (lead), Marketing & Communications, and Executive Leadership. It's not a fifth fundraising team; it's a new lens on the same company.
Can one contact appear in multiple team sections?
Yes. A CSR lead who also runs a foundation can appear in both Corporate Partnerships and Grants. HR and talent leaders are routed to Employer Partnerships, high-capacity executives and board members to Major Gifts, and foundation officers to Grants.
Who can access my organization's prospects and contacts?
All data is isolated by organization. Only users with an email address from your organization's approved domain can join your workspace and see your prospects, reports, saved contacts, and notes. Consumer email domains (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, etc.) are blocked.
How is my organization approved?
The first person to sign up from a new domain creates a pending workspace. A FunderIQ super admin reviews and approves the organization, and after that any teammate with the same email domain can sign in without additional approval.
Can I add prospects one at a time or in bulk?
Yes. Enter a prospect manually, upload a CSV or Excel file, and map incoming columns to FunderIQ fields so bulk leads are imported correctly. You can also promote discoveries from the Grants, Corporate Discovery, or Competitor Funders workspaces into full profiles.
What happens when I save or pin a contact?
Saved contacts are pinned to your organization's shared contact list and stay attached to the prospect even when a profile is refreshed or re-scanned. You can also use the Hunter.io email finder to add verified emails to saved contacts.
Can I add notes and comments to a prospect?
Yes. Every prospect profile supports internal notes tagged by team — Corporate Partnerships, Employer Partnerships, Grants, and Major Gifts — so each team can record its own context without cluttering the shared view.
Can I export or print a profile?
Yes. Every prospect profile has a print/export button that opens a clean, print-friendly layout. Use your browser's Save as PDF to create a shareable file for briefings or internal meetings.
How current is the research?
Every profile is generated live at the time you run it, and you can re-run a scan at any point to refresh the findings. Pinned contacts and notes persist across re-scans.
Do you support Google sign-in?
Yes — you can sign in with your work Google account. Only corporate and nonprofit email domains are allowed; consumer domains are blocked to keep workspace data isolated by organization.
